Ladder damascus knife with a pear wooden handle

A small knife in ladder damascus, forged by hand in Groningen. This is the first damascus I ever made, from 80CrV2 and 15N20. In a ladder pattern the layers are ground into rungs across the blade, like a ladder. The handle is pear wood, my favourite wood, from an old tree in my parents' garden. It was already felled when they moved there. I hope the buyer takes care of it, because I am still doubting whether to keep it myself. The ferrule is brass.

Care

Wash by hand and dry the knife after use, with the cotton cloth it came in or a dishcloth. Carbon steel can rust and discolour. The darker layer that forms is called patina, and it protects the steel and gives your knife its character. Never leave acids on the blade, they discolour it and destroy the patina. Hone the edge with a honing steel just before or right after use.
