Return Policy

I forge and finish every knife myself. If something is not right with your order, reach out — I handle every case personally.


Standard Items — 14-Day Return Window

Under EU consumer law, you have the right to return standard, non-custom items within 14 days of receiving your order. To be eligible, the item must meet all of the following:

  • Unused — the knife has not been used for cutting
  • Unsharpened — the edge has not been modified or sharpened
  • Undamaged — no signs of use, wear, or changes of any kind
  • Returned within 14 days of notifying me

If these conditions are met, I will refund the full product cost. Return shipping is at your expense. Original shipping costs are not refunded.

Used Knives

A knife that has been used, sharpened, or modified cannot be returned under the standard return policy. Once a blade has been used it has a different edge, patina, and condition than when it left my forge.

That said, please contact me first. If there is a genuine defect in the steel, handle, or construction that only became apparent during use, I want to know about it. Email me at floris@finerknives.nl with photos and a description and I will do my best to find a fair solution.

Custom and Commission Knives

Knives made to your personal specifications — including custom steel, handle materials, dimensions, or engraving — are not eligible for return under EU Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c). I make these pieces specifically for you and they cannot be resold.

Custom orders cannot be cancelled once I have started work. If you cancel before I begin, a maximum of 75% of the agreed price may be refunded. After completion, no refunds are given.

Damaged or Incorrect Items

If your item arrived damaged in transit, or I sent the wrong item, contact me within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the item and packaging. I will arrange a replacement or full refund, including return shipping.

How to Return

  1. Email me at floris@finerknives.nl with your order details and reason for return
  2. I will confirm whether the return is accepted and send you the return address
  3. Pack the knife securely — wrap the blade carefully to protect both the knife and the carrier
  4. Ship using a tracked service

Refunds

Once I receive and inspect the returned item, I will process your refund within 14 days via the original payment method.
