80CrV2 Black Cumai met padouk heft

A chef's knife in 80CrV2 with a black Cu-mai finish, forged by hand in Groningen. Cu-mai is five layers: cladding, a thin layer of copper, the hard core, then the same again mirrored. The core takes the edge, the outer layers keep the blade tough. Padouk is a hardwood that is very orange when you first shape it, and the colour mellows over time. Right now the dark blade against the bright handle has a lot of contrast. The buffalo horn ferrule sits between the two, and the copper layer on the outside matches the orange padouk.
