Bunka hybride van Nitro-B staal met purple heart heft

A bunka hybrid knife in Nitro-B, forged by hand in Groningen. A bunka is a Japanese all-purpose knife with a flat profile and a pointed tip. Nitro-B is a stainless steel with nitrogen added, made by the German steelmaker Buderus. The steel is very fine-grained and resists rust, so you can leave out the patina care that carbon steel needs. The handle is purpleheart, a deep violet hardwood, with a copper ferrule that has a patina finish. Nitro-B is the one exception I make to my usual high carbon work.

Care

Wash by hand and dry the knife after use, with the cotton cloth it came in or a dishcloth. Hone the edge with a honing steel just before or right after use.
